Ruiqi Ding
Joined 2021
Ruiqi was born in Beijing, China. He graduated from Peking University with a B.A. in Chemistry, where he studied in Professor Rong Zhu’s group. Now he is pursuing a doctoral degree in the Wang and P. Liu groups as a co-advised Ph.D. student at the University of Pittsburgh.
Hai Chang

Hai Chang was born and grew up in Jiangsu, China. He graduated from Nankai University in 2022, where he worked under Professor Gong Chen’s group on C-H bond activation of glycals. He joined Wang’s group in Fall 2022 as a graduate student.
Yun Ma
Joined 2024
Yun is from Camas, Washington. He graduated with a B.S. in chemistry from the College of William and Mary, where he conducted his undergraduate research in the group of Professor Jonathan Scheerer. He joined the Wang group in summer 2024 as a graduate student.
Star Garrigues
Joined 2025
Star Garrigues is from Portland, Oregon. They received their bachelor of science in chemistry and biology at the University of Portland, and conducted research under the mentorship of Dr. Warren Wood. Star was an REU fellow at UC Irvine working under Dr. Elizabeth Jarvo (summer 2022). They also conducted research as an intern under the guidance of Drs. Christian Nilewski and Yuebiao Zhou at the Discovery Chemistry Department in Genentech (summer 2023).
Mackenzie Titus

Mackenzie was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. She attended Northern Arizona University where she conducted undergraduate research under Dr. Robert L. Whetten and received a B.S. in chemistry. She is now pursuing her Ph.D. in chemistry and was excited to join the Wang group in the fall of 2024. In her free time, Mackenzie enjoys watching movies (especially horror), seeing live music, and spending time with friends.
Reagan Reece
Joined 2026
Reagan was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. She attended University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) where she conducted undergraduate research under Dr. Kimberly Petersen and received a B.S. in Biochemistry. In the Petersen group she conducted research on optimizing asymmetric cyclization of lactones. She is now pursuing her Ph.D. in chemistry and is excited to be apart of the Wang group. In her free time she enjoys theater, live music, and hiking.

Oliver Rosen
Joined 2024
Oliver is from Chicago, Illinois and plans to graduate in 2027. He is currently pursuing a dual major in Biochemistry and English Writing – Fiction Track, as well as minors in Chemistry and German. He joined the Wang Lab in the Fall of 2024.
Henry Chiong

My name is Henry Chiong and I am a freshman. I am double majoring in Biology and Economics and on the pre-med track. I am from Brooklyn, New York and I plan to graduate in spring of 2028 and hope to get into Pitt medical school.
Meera Nair

Meera is from Marlboro, New Jersey and is part of the class of 2028 at CMU. She is pursuing a degree in Chemistry with a Biomedical Engineering focus which she hopes to apply in the medicinal chemistry field.
