About Yiming

Yiming Wang
Associate Professor

Yiming was born in Shanghai, China, and grew up in Boulder, Colorado. After his first exposures to chemical research in the groups of Professors Veronica Vaida and William von Eggers Doering, he received his early training in organic synthesis under the mentorship of Professor Andrew Myers and graduated with an AB/AM degree in chemistry & physics and mathematics from Harvard University in 2008. He performed his doctoral research in gold chemistry and chiral anion catalysis under the guidance of Professor Dean Toste at the University of California, Berkeley and obtained his PhD in 2013. Subsequently, he joined the group of Professor Stephen Buchwald at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he conducted research in copper and palladium catalysis as an NIH NRSA Postdoctoral Fellow. He joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh in 2017 and became Associate Professor in 2024.
